•Washing
The basic principle came from wool-processing.
Washing is done in professional washing lines with biologically degradable chemicals and with drinking water quality water. After washing, feathers are rinsed out several times.
• Steaming/Drying
This process is done in special double walled machines, with heated oil placed between the inner and the outer walls. The feathers are kept in continuous motion through the work of rotating steel blades.
• Dusting
In older times the feather were put in a sack and then it was hit with a stick till the sack could gave off any cloud of dust. Nowadays the dusting process is made in special dusting machine.
• Sorting
A practical step, similar to separation of grain and chaff.
In older times the workers threw the feather up in the air with a wooden work, the feather and down (lighter parts) were blown by the wind, and the heavier parts were drifted back down. Nowadays we use sorting machines working with vertical air circulation by prolonging the “travel time” of the feather, then the feather arrives into horizontal sorted chambers to divide each classes from each other.
• Mixing
Different size and quality of feather and down are mixed by hand work in separated and well cleaned rooms to satisfy any customer’s demands.
